Networking

A safe place to get advice and have exchanges on "stuff that matters"

No one knows better than a fellow CAO how it feels to be in your shoes. OMAA has created a culture of confidential peer support so you can benefit from open communication with thoughtful and experienced likeminded individuals. All Association events incorporate networking opportunities for CAOs and Aspiring CAOs to interact, share some war stories and learn from each other. The opportunity to establish relationships amongst the Members is a priority for OMAA.

Professional development you're looking for

We understand the unique challenges municipal administrators face. OMAA workshops address your needs, with the overall goal of supporting you in your drive to excel as a leader in the ever-changing environment of an Ontario municipality. We design our programs to respond to your interests, whether you're a newly minted CAO or a well-seasoned veteran. We focus on emerging issues and best practices to keep you ahead of the curve.

CAO Connections Luncheons

Over the course of the year, OMAA brings together CAOs and Aspiring CAOs for conversation and connection at locations across Ontario.

These smaller interactive gatherings offer different opportunities for professional development, exchanges and socializing.

Luncheons are on a complimentary basis for members and are yet another way to develop your network and support base.

OMAA Member Requests

A simple means by which to seek suggestions, advice, and copies of materials from those who have “been there and done that”.

"OMAA Member Requests" allow members to request a special distribution across the Association membership base on subjects that make a difference in your world. Whether it’s just standard samples you are looking for or a unique project you are designing as you go, contribute a question.  Got the experience to share, provide a response to help out a fellow CAO in the circle of your peers

Recognition for your efforts

OMAA has its own Awards program to honour the contributions of its members based on length of service. The OMAA Long Service Recognition Awards are somewhat unique in that the length of service is based on years spent just in the role of a CAO.

OMAA also awards the Robert Baldwin Award, Ontario's highest award for municipal public service.

Ongoing OMAA Communication

Regular e-Newsletters and communiques are distributed to OMAA Members frequently over the course of a year keeping you on top of Association activities, services and opportunities for the Ontario CAO. As well, key messages from other organizations such as AMO, MPAC and PSHSA are distributors as reminders for busy CAOs.

Attractive discounts

OMAA members receive registration fee discounts for our twice-yearly Workshops and other OMAA-sponsored professional development opportunities. You can also get a discount on the Public Sector Digest Webinars, as well as your annual CAMA membership fees.

The Members Only Section

OMAA Members have convenient access to archived Association information, CAO related articles, as well as the Membership Directory.  In addition, special support services or suggestions are also available for Members dealing with career shifts.
