OMAA offers two primary categories of membership with sub categories:

  1. Active
  2. Associate
    - Associate - A (Aspiring)
    - Associate - RS (Retired - Social)
    - Associate - RB (Retired - Business)
    - Associate - PC (Partner - Colleague)
    - Associate - PB (Partner - Business)

The OMAA Board of Directors is pleased to offer Ontario CAOs a two month complimentary membership to "take OMAA for a test drive".

Contact the OMAA Executive Director to make arrangements.

When you do make formal application for OMAA Membership you can anticipate that fees for your first year will be prorated based on the date you apply. If you apply anytime between the OMAA Fall Workshop and the end of the year, we'll waive your membership fees for the remainder of the year. Membership renewals take place annually early in a new year upon receipt of an invoice.

Active Membership

Am I eligible?

Full membership is open to the chief administrative officer or administrative head of an Ontario municipality/Reserve, duly appointed by by-law. Not sure if that's you? Here's the fine print: full members must exercise all-encompassing management responsibilities for a municipal corporation, hold a unique position in the organizational structure, and report directly to municipal council.

What do I get?

All the benefits of OMAA membership, including the opportunity to vote on OMAA business and hold an executive position.

How much does it cost?

$550 + HST annually

Active Membership Application Form

Associate Memberships - Aspiring CAOs

Am I eligible?

Check out the following definitions to see which one may apply to you.

Associate - A (Aspiring)

Is employed in Ontario as a Deputy Chief Administrative Officer and/or Assistant CAO, or any other comparable title, reporting directly to a CAO and/or having the authority to act in the absence of the CAO or alternatively exercises broad corporate management responsibilities within their municipality or Reserve.

Associate – A (Aspiring) Membership Criteria
• Reports directly to the CAO
• Typical titles can include “Deputy CAO” or “Commissioner”
• Responsible for a multi function portfolio
• Broad corporate management responsibilities
• Designated authority to act in the absence of the CAO
• Interested in advancing in their career to the position of CAO
• Membership application must be sponsored by the CAO

What do I get?

All the benefits of full membership with the exception of holding an executive position and voting on OMAA business.

How much does it cost?

Note: Associate Membership Application is made by the CAO on behalf of their Aspiring CAOs on the Active Membership Application Form

Associate Membership - Retired

Am I eligible?

Check out the following definitions to see which one may apply to you.

Associate - RS (Retired - Social)

An individual who has been an Active OMAA Member and has retired from municipal or reserve administration.  This Membership applies to those that who maintain interest in the Association for social reasons only

Associate - RB (Retired - Business)

An individual who has been an Active OMAA Member and has retired from municipal or reserve administration.  This Membership applies to those who maintain interest in  Association for the purposes of  business promotion

What do I get?

All the benefits of full membership with the exception of holding an executive position and voting on OMAA business. Retired members who are interested in working as consultants can post an ad on the OMAA website to reach a target audience for an additional fee.

How much does it cost?

Dependent on the Associate Membership as noted on the Application Form

Associate Membership - Partner

Associate - PC (Partner - Colleague)

A representative of the Ontario Government Ministry, Agency or Commission, or Employed in an executive capacity in a national, Ontario, regional or municipal organization, or at an Ontario Reserve, principally dealing with municipal management and administration;

Associate - PB (Partner - Business)

An individual that provides professional expertise, management consulting or municipal services to municipalities or Ontario Reserves
